How to Apply for a South Korea Tourist Visa 2019

The Republic of Korea or more commonly known as South Korea is an East Asian Nation and is near the Philippines. Known for being modern and at the same time also traditional. South Korea has recently gained prominence for its pop culture, better known as K-Pop.

What is South Korea Tourist Visa?

A South Korea Tourist Visa is a travel document issued by the Embassy of South Korea. It states the date and duration of travel, details of the person allowed entry and is pasted in the passport.

Who needs a South Korea Tourist Visa?

South Korea require all Filipino tourists to secure a tourist visa prior to entry.

What are the Requirements?

Basic Requirements:

  • Application Form
  • 1 piece of Passport size colored picture
  • Original Passport (should be valid for more than 6months)
  • Photocopy of Passport Bio-page (page 2)
  • Original & Photocopy of valid visa/s and arrival stamps to OECD member countries for the past 5 years (If applicable only)
  • If personally invited by Korean
    • Invitation Letter
    • Photocopy of inviter’s Passport or Identification Card (authentication not required)
  • If invited by Company in Korea
    • Invitation Letter
    • Photocopy of Korean Company Business Permit (authentication not required)

Additional Requirements:

  • For Employees:
    • Original Certificate of Employment (must include applicant’s position, date hired, compensation, office address, HR landline number (cell-phone number is not allowed), HR e-mail address)
    • Original Personal Bank Certificate (must include account type, current balance, account opening date, ADB)
    • Bank Statement (original or certified true copy of bank statements/passbook for the last 3 months)
    • Photocopy of ITR (Income Tax Return) or Form 2316
    • Copy of PRC Card or IBP Card (If applicable only)
  • For Businessman:
    • Photocopy of Business Registration from SEC or DTI
    • Photocopy of Business Permit or Mayor’s Permit
    • Original Personal Bank Certificate (must include account type, current balance, account opening date, ADB)
    • Bank Statement (original or certified true copy of bank statements/passbook for the last 3 months)
    • Photocopy of ITR (Income Tax Return) or Form 2316
    • Copy of PRC Card or IBP Card (If applicable only)
  • For Students:
    • School Certificate (Original) 
    • Copy of School ID 
    • Copy of Birth Certificate 
    • Parents’ Documents 
      • If employed: Employment Certificate Original [must include position, date hired, compensation, office address, HR landline number(cell-phone number is not allowed), HR e-mail address], Photocopy of ITR(Income Tax Return) or Form 2316 Copy
      • If Self-employed: Business Registration from SEC or DTI (Copy), Business Permit or Mayor’s Permit (Copy), Photocopy of ITR (Income Tax Return) or Form 2316
      • Original Bank Certificate [must include account type, current balance, account opening date, 6 months average balance (ADB)]
      • Bank Statement (original or certified true copy of bank statements/passbook for the last 3 months)
      • Copy of NSO Marriage Certificate
    • If parents already have a valid visa, attach a photocopy of parents’ valid visa. If not traveling together with parents, attach a photocopy of passport or valid ID of parents.
  • For Non-Working Spouse:
    • If the spouse is employed: Spouse’s Employment Certificate Original [must include position, date hired, compensation, office address, HR landline number(cell-phone number is not allowed), HR e-mail address],  Photocopy of ITR(Income Tax Return) or Form 2316 Copy
    • If the spouse is self-employed: Business Registration from SEC or DTI (Copy), Business Permit or Mayor’s Permit (Copy), Photocopy of ITR (Income Tax Return) or Form 2316
    • Original Personal or Spouse’s Bank Certificate [must include account type, current balance, account opening date, 6 months average balance (ADB)]
    • Personal or Spouse’s Bank Statement (original or certified true copy of bank statements/passbook for the last 3 months) 
    • Copy of PSA Marriage Certificate

How much is the processing fee?

■ Processing Time: 7 working days

■ Visa Fee: 59 days (or less) stay in Korea — GRATIS
                   60 to 90 days stay in Korea — PHP2,000.00

Starting in July 2018, South Korea changed its visa application process. Instead of applying directly to their embassy, the application is done thru an accredited travel agency and like applying for a Japan Tourist Visa. Below is the list of accredited travel agencies.
